Why Women Do Not Participate in Internet Surveys

I listened to the TWIT podcast TWiT Episode 32 last night, and Leo LaPorte and the roundtable were talking about their low female listenership in a survey they were conducting.

Got a newsflash for you guys... Somewhere I read or heard, it's an established fact that women do not participate in these surveys because of all of the media hype bad side of the internet. Also women think if they do participate they will be flooded with spam or get a virus or spyware put on their computers.

The only places where women do participate in volume are in places connected to female centric sites like Oprah, other sites where they over-publish that they are safe.

November? It's THE LEONIDS

For years in November and April, which coincidentally collided with COMDEX and NAB conventions in Las Vegas, the Leonids meteor showers always forced a group of us away from the convention activities. Our mission was to grab a thermos of hot coffee, blankets, cameras, field glasses and get away from the bright lights of the Strip and into the desert. Several miles outside Vegas where the hills block a large amount of the light pollution, we found the perfect spot where the desert darkness would give us a front row seat to watch one of the world's greatest lightshows: The Leonoid Meteor Showers. Over the years we've taken several people along for the show. While normally windy and colder than hell, is has been an enjoyable time to spend with our friends.

Well this week, our buddies at However we diehards should not be disappointed because: "The sparkling stars of northern winter will be on full display, along with Saturn and the full Moon, and you might spot a few meteors, too."

The 2005 Podcast Awards

Today we attended the Portable Media Expo at the Ontario Convention Center to check out the internet broadcast and podcasting groups to see what's cooking in the wonderful world of 'casting. There was lots to see. We'll report back on a few choice finds later this week.

However we did stay around to see some old friends and buddies which ended up as the big winners at tonight's 2005 Podcaster Awards over that the Marriott.

The winners of the People's Choice Podcaster of the Year and the Best Technology Podcast is "This Week in Technology " or TWIT for short, which features our good buddies, Leo LaPorte, the TWIT Host and Steve Gibson, security expert and all around good guy.
